Walk Through The Fire To Grow Your Business
This blog is a combination of marketing tool reviews and entrepreneurial lifecoaching. It is our desire to guide you through the sea of marketing overwhelm – not just saving you money, time and effort – but also keeping you sane and mindful so that you can grow your business with integrity, reliance and joy, freeing you from feeling stuck, under-inspired or overwhelmed.
What do you avoid like the plague in your business? Perhaps it is public speaking or diving into a new technology to grow your online business. What if you were paid $2,500 to do either one of those and still did not welcome the opportunity. What is stopping you?
Fear is the reason that you feel stuck and unmotivated to even take one action step toward trying something new. Like Superman when he encounters kryptonite, fear stops you in your tracks and zaps all the energy of forward momentum.
Your comfort zone is the bubble where you can accomplish activities effortlessly without feeling anxiety, dread or any negative emotion. It includes places, people and things that create positive thoughts within you. It is very important to be aware of your zone because that zone determines your potential for success and may be what is causing you to give up on certain dreams and goals. It could also explain why your business is stuck and not growing.
So, how do you expand your comfort zone to accomplish your goals? Face the fear and walk through the fire. In other words, do what you dread the most by taking at least one action step toward it and following through. For example, you might purchase a course that teaches you about a new technology, sign up for a public speaking commitment, or promise to deliver a newsletter to your clients.
To expand your comfort zone, it is important to recognize first what creates discomfort and anxiety so that you can mentally condition yourself to be comfortable in those situations and new ones to ultimately achieve your business goals.
Here are 4 areas to help you expand your zone:
1. Know your mindset. Self-talk is very powerful and mental conditioning plays a big role in your comfort zone. You have already established in your mind what you are good at and what you are comfortable with in your business. In order to expand and grow, you need to understand where you are and set goals for where you would like to be (even if it does not seem possible now!)
2. Break your self-imposed rules. Be open to expanding your comfort zone! Get uncomfortable and break the guidelines that you impose on yourself. It will allow you to see new opportunities that can bring you future growth and success.
3. Differentiate between fear and risk. Understanding what is true risk versus feeling fear will allow you to overcome your limits. For example, if I invest 30,000 dollars in my business on different ways of marketing and I know the return on investment for each of them, that is a calculated risk. If I feel terrified of the unknown, that is just a fear to be overcome.
4. Challenge yourself to get out of your comfort zone. This takes effort and discipline and requires you to push yourself to learn a new skill. It may feel uncomfortable at times but all growth and expansion requires a bit of discomfort. Christiane and I challenge ourselves on a daily basis learning new ways of marketing and finding unique business strategies to better serve you. At times it is scary and overwhelming. Yet, we are not benefiting our clients by limiting ourselves.
So, go forth and conquer! You can push yourself a bit to think and go outside of the box. Breaking a large business goal into little steps makes it so much easier! The wins that you experience will propel you forward and don’t forget to look back and appreciate how far you have come.
Wishing you inspired growth,
Lydia
